The President

The Global Trailblazer

Tan Sri Lim is entering a more intensive phase of his mission to develop Limkokwing into one of the world’s most globalised universities.

His university campuses now straddle Asia, Europe and Africa.

In London, the university gives students access to one of the world’s great commercial, financial, cultural and educational centres, and a gateway to Europe. In Gaborone, his university is working closely with the Government of Botswana to build the country into an education hub.

Simultaneously, he has established a collegial network that now spans 160 universities and colleges in 65 countries – a growing partnership that he calls his Global Classroom.

Under the Global Classroom concept, Limkokwing students could opt to study one semester or longer at any partner campus in the network.

They will get to learn the global experience first-hand; make friends and build the wide networking that will give them the competitive edge in their careers.

Together, this network of educational institutions provides a “world campus” platform that he hopes will result in the Global Graduate – highly competent, universal in their thinking and proactive in fostering understanding between peoples of the world.

For Tan Sri Lim, Limkokwing’s expansion to foreign shores is part and parcel of the vision that was in his mind when he started the university.

“This is not just another private college. This is an international endeavour. This is how I see it. And this is how I will do it,” he told his staff in a speech years ago.

He wanted to create a two-way traffic in education between Asia and the world; not one-way, with students heading just West, but with students heading East as well.

He wanted his students to gain a "world view".

Today, through its Global Classroom and its campuses on three continents, Limkokwing University has achieved the level of globalisation that enables it to deliver that “world view” to its students.
