The Internet has become a large market for doing business; some of the biggest companies today have grown by taking advantage of the efficient nature of low-cost advertising and Internet commerce. It is the fastest way to spread information to a vast amount of people simultaneously. The Internet has also revolutionized shopping and has also greatly facilitated personalized marketing which allows a company to market a product to a specific person or a specific group of people more so than any other existing advertising medium. All this requires a virtual storefront in the form of websites.

Web design is the creation of websites and web application using visual combination of images, text and other media such as animated graphics, video and sound to communicate certain objectives or messages, let it be information on business, education, community or others.

There are large numbers of companies specializing in web site design. The scope for web design as a business is vast with many out-dated websites that could be re-designed, not forgetting the organizations, which have not yet embraced the Internet for business.

This programme provides the students with the fundamental principles of Internet Computing and subsequently consolidating this with a creative approach to the design and management of digital media. Students are taught the various tools and techniques of web development as well as the design and aesthetic aspects of this fast-growing medium of communication.

Students will examine the evolution of computer games, the elements that contribute to a game’s playability, hardware and software environments and the visual design, testing, creation and marketing of games. An important component of the course is the practical training students undergo to prepare them for the professional realities of this competitive and highly lucrative industry.

Entry requirements

Pass an ‘O’ Level or an equivalent qualification from a recognition institution by the local Ministry of Education.
