Associate Degree in
Fine Art

Associate Degree in Fine Art help artists examine the real world and imagine others. They express their thoughts, observations and emotions through a visual language of color, texture and form. These are the creative challenges and responsibilities for which Limkokwing Botswana students prepare in the most dynamic art center in the world

Fine art students acquire a solid understanding of the artist's tools of discovery and development, including such skills or concepts as drawing, color, form, space, structure, composition and the use of material.

Courses in art history and others liberal arts subjects broaden students' appreciation of the cultural and intellectual context in which art is made. Presentations by visiting artists and critics, and also a regular trip to museum and art galleries will develop the skills they need to express their ideas.

Why choose this program?

The visual artist is a major contributor to the culture of contemporary society, and this exciting and challenging program will place you, as a graduate, at the centre of that vital arena. The program gives you the opportunity to gain experience in contemporary approaches to visual arts.

Studio skills and research methods are developed, ideas challenged and experimentation encouraged. By integrating theory and practice and encouraging independent enquiry, these studies enable you to develop an appreciation of the artist's role in contemporary society, as well as equipping you for a career in a particular visual arts field.

Year 1 gives you grounding in fundamental aspects of visual art practice and theory, and develops your individual aptitudes and interests. Expression will be developed through experimentation with media and processes, and through critical thinking and evaluation. Years 2 and 3 offer you a considerable choice in studio studies. The aim in second year is to develop a wide range of skills and experience across several studio areas.
