The field of entertainment and performing arts is an exciting venue to explore one’s creativity and this program is designed with such individual in mind. However, the skills of a Set & Theater Designer is not only limited in the arts but it also extends to the media and commercial sectors. Essentially, the designer plays an important role to create the appropriate space to serve a specific function – ranging from theater to media event.

In the program, the design process takes into consideration both the technical and artistic needs. These skills are further expanded through an acquirement of the ability to connect variables in the environment with the kind of use of the spectator.

Within the course of their studies, students will be given the opportunity to progressively learn and harness their individual skills. The process involves training in the crucial aspect of design fundamentals that is further expanded into a series of increasingly complex projects for various scenarios. To sustain the design process, the curriculum also covers the studies of technical and material studies, acoustic and lighting technology, Computer-Aided Design, contextual studies from historical precedents as well as current issues.

The learning and research articulated in theory is supported with practical lessons. A significant component of the program is the entrepreneurship studies and industry training that serves to create opportunities and prepare students to work in the field.

Entry requirements

Pass an ‘O’ Level or an equivalent qualification from a recognition institution by the local Ministry of Education.
